Design thinking in K-12 classrooms
The represented poster is the first part of the project on how design thinking and the pedagogical strategies of design education might influence teaching and learning in K-12 middle school English Language Arts.
- Fall 2010Instructor: Meredith DavisThe main areas of research were: National and state content standards, cognitive and social characteristics of students, demands on public school teachers, classroom settings, audit of existing resource materials for teachers and students. The focus of the displayed poster is on Content Standards; the informative part covers such topics as the structure of the USA National and North Carolina State Standards for Grade 7, changes in students' technology use, the new learner-centered approach to education, the areas of learning within ELA and the types of knowledge the Standards apply for. This preliminary research was necessary to be able to identify the framework for the next part of the project (Re-search project): designing a system that might improve the present educational environment by means of implementing design thinking and developing new learning systems.
